One of the biggest misconceptions is that people expect permanent results after one or two sessions. Unfortunately, that's not how hair grows.

Hair grows in cycles, and only hairs that are in the active growth phase (anagen phase) can be permanently disabled by the laser. At any one time, many of your hair follicles are inactive, meaning they won't respond to treatment until they enter the active phase.

That's why treatments are spaced several weeks apart. Each session targets a different group of active hair follicles.

Many people notice that hair grows back more slowly and becomes finer after their first few treatments, but the most significant reduction is usually seen after around 6–8 sessions, once the majority of follicles have been treated during their active phase.

In other words, seeing hair regrow after your first or second treatment is completely normal—it doesn't mean the treatment isn't working.

Laser hair removal offers a significant and long-lasting reduction in hair growth. Most clients experience a permanent reduction of 70–90% after a full course of treatment. Some hair may regrow over time, particularly due to hormonal changes, and occasional top-up sessions may be needed to maintain results.

Laser hair removal works best on clients with a contrast between hair colour and skin tone — typically darker hair on lighter skin. Yes — shaving between sessions is fine and recommended. You should avoid waxing, threading, or plucking, as these remove the hair root that the laser needs to target.

You should shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid sun exposure, fake tan, and certain skincare products (such as retinoids) in the days leading up to treatment. Full preparation advice will be provided at your consultation.

Temporary redness and mild sensitivity in the treated area are common and usually resolve within a few hours. More significant reactions are rare when treatment is carried out correctly. We will discuss all potential side effects at your consultation.

We advise against treating tanned skin, as this increases the risk of pigmentation changes. You should avoid sun exposure and fake tan for at least 4 weeks before treatment. If you have recently been in the sun, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
