About the Treatment

Life Without the Constant Upkeep

Think about how much time you spend shaving, waxing, or booking appointments just to stay on top of unwanted hair. The last-minute panic before a night out. The razor burn. The ingrown hairs. The holiday where you had to pack a razor and find time to use it.

Laser hair removal changes all of that. After a course of treatments, most clients see a 70–90% permanent reduction in hair growth — meaning smooth skin that you barely have to think about. No more fitting shaving around your schedule. No more waxing appointments. Just the freedom to get dressed, go out, and feel confident in your own skin.

Whether you want to treat a small area like the upper lip, or go for a full body course, we offer personalised treatment plans designed around your skin type, hair colour, and lifestyle — with honest advice at every step.

Why Clinic Visjeune

Not All Laser Is the Same

The technology and experience behind your treatment makes a real difference to your results — and your comfort. Here is what sets us apart.

Medical-Grade Technology — Not IPL

We use a professional four-wavelength diode laser — a significant step up from the IPL machines found in many beauty salons. Four wavelengths means the laser can reach hair follicles at different depths and treat a wider range of skin tones and hair types more effectively. IPL scatters light broadly; our laser delivers it precisely where it needs to go.

Comfortable Treatment with Integrated Cooling

Pain is one of the biggest reasons people put off laser hair removal — and it's understandable. Our laser has an integrated cooling system built directly into the handpiece, which chills the skin as the laser fires. Most clients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable it is. Many describe it as a warm tingling, nothing more.

Honest, Realistic Expectations

We will always tell you the truth about what laser hair removal can achieve for your skin and hair type. Most clients see a 70–90% permanent reduction after a full course. Some hair may return over time — particularly with hormonal changes — and occasional top-ups may be needed. We would rather set honest expectations than overpromise.

Experienced Practitioners, Every Time

Every treatment at Clinic Visjeune is carried out by a trained and experienced practitioner — not a junior member of staff following a script. We take the time to assess your skin properly, calibrate the settings correctly, and make sure you feel comfortable and informed at every stage.

The Science

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal works by sending a highly focused beam of light down the hair and into the hair follicle (the tiny structure under your skin that grows the hair). The dark pigment in the hair absorbs this light, which turns into heat and damages the follicle so it can no longer grow hair properly.

For laser hair removal to work, there needs to be a hair present in the follicle. The hair acts like a pathway, carrying the heat down to the follicle. This is why laser only works on hairs that are in their active growth phase. Hair follicles that are resting or have shed their hair don't provide this pathway, so they can't be effectively treated until they enter the active growth phase. That's why most people need around 6–8 treatments to target every hair as it goes through its natural growth cycle.

Both laser and IPL use light to heat the hair follicle.

The difference is that a laser uses one very specific wavelength of light that melanin absorbs extremely well. That means much more of the energy travels into the hair and reaches the follicle.

IPL produces lots of different wavelengths of light. Some are absorbed well by the hair, but many are not. As a result, more of the energy is spread through the surrounding skin instead of being concentrated where it's needed.

The Process

What to Expect

01

Consultation & Skin Assessment

Before any treatment, we carry out a thorough consultation to assess your skin type, hair colour, and medical history. This ensures laser hair removal is safe and suitable for you, and allows us to select the correct settings for your skin.

02

Patch Test

A patch test is performed prior to your first session to check your skin's response to the laser. This is a standard safety step and is required before treatment can begin.

03

Your Treatment Session

The laser device is passed over the treatment area, delivering controlled pulses of light that target the pigment in the hair follicle. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild warmth or a light snap — similar to a rubber band against the skin.

04

Aftercare Advice

Following each session, we will provide clear aftercare guidance. This typically includes avoiding sun exposure, heat, and certain skincare products for a short period. Shedding of treated hairs occurs over the following 1–3 weeks.

05

Course of Treatments

Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions are required to target follicles at the active growth stage. Most clients require 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart, depending on the area and hair type. Top-up sessions may be needed periodically to maintain results.
