About the Treatment

Light as a Treatment

LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy uses specific wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light to stimulate natural processes within the skin. Different wavelengths penetrate to different depths and trigger different cellular responses — from collagen production and acne reduction to inflammation control and accelerated healing.

Originally developed by NASA for wound healing in space, LED therapy has been extensively studied and is now one of the most popular non-invasive treatments in aesthetic medicine. It is safe, painless, and suitable for virtually all skin types — including sensitive and reactive skin.

At Clinic Visjeune, we use professional-grade LED devices that deliver precise, therapeutic doses of light. Treatments can be tailored to your specific skin concerns using single or combined wavelengths, and LED therapy works exceptionally well as a standalone treatment or as an add-on to enhance and accelerate the results of other procedures.

The Process

How It Works

01

Consultation

We begin with a skin assessment to understand your concerns and goals. This allows us to select the most appropriate wavelengths and protocol for your skin type and condition.

02

Skin Preparation

The skin is cleansed to remove any makeup, SPF, or skincare products. LED light therapy works best on clean, bare skin to ensure maximum light penetration.

03

Treatment Session

You will relax comfortably while the LED panel is positioned close to the skin. The session is completely painless — most clients describe a gentle warmth. Sessions typically last 20–30 minutes.

04

Aftercare

There is no downtime. You can apply skincare and makeup immediately after treatment. We may recommend specific products to support and enhance your results.

05

Course of Treatments

For best results, a course of 6–10 sessions is recommended, typically 1–2 times per week. Maintenance sessions every 4–6 weeks help to sustain the benefits long term.

Skin Concerns

What LED Therapy Can Treat

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Red light stimulates collagen and elastin production, smoothing fine lines and improving skin firmness over time.

Acne & Breakouts

Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria, reducing active breakouts and helping to prevent future flare-ups.

Redness & Rosacea

Gentle wavelengths calm inflammation and reduce visible redness, making it suitable for sensitive and reactive skin.

Dull or Uneven Skin Tone

Improves cellular turnover and circulation, restoring radiance and evening out skin tone.

Post-Treatment Recovery

Accelerates healing and reduces downtime after other aesthetic treatments such as microneedling or peels.

Pigmentation

Helps to reduce the appearance of sun spots and uneven pigmentation with regular treatment.

Dehydrated or Tired Skin

Boosts cellular energy and hydration levels, leaving skin looking refreshed and revitalised.

Wound Healing & Scarring

Near-infrared and red wavelengths support tissue repair and can help reduce the appearance of scars.

The Science

Wavelengths Explained

Red Light630–660nm

The most widely studied wavelength for skin rejuvenation. Red light penetrates the dermis to stimulate fibroblasts, boosting collagen and elastin production. Ideal for anti-ageing, fine lines, and improving overall skin quality.

Blue Light415–430nm

Targets the sebaceous glands and destroys Propionibacterium acnes — the bacteria responsible for acne. Effective for active breakouts, oily skin, and acne-prone complexions without the need for topical antibiotics.

Near-Infrared Light830–850nm

The deepest-penetrating wavelength, reaching muscle and bone tissue. Powerful anti-inflammatory and healing properties, making it ideal for post-treatment recovery, wound healing, and deeper tissue repair.

Amber Light590–620nm

Targets redness, rosacea, and flushing by reducing inflammation in superficial blood vessels. Also supports lymphatic drainage and helps to improve skin tone and radiance.
